Cathy’s Quick and Easy Homemade Deep Dish Pizza
Serves 5 (11 x 3in pan)
Ingredients: dough
(1) ¼ oz packet of rapid rising yeast
1 tbsp of light brown sugar
1 cup of warm water
1 tbsp of olive oil
2 ½ cup of flour
1 tbsp kosher salt
¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese
½ stick of melted unsalted butter
Ingredients: pizza toppings
1lb Italian sausage
4 oz of pepperoni
¼ cup of real bacon bits
1 8oz pack ok provolone cheese slices
(2) 8 oz bags of mozzarella cheese
(2) 16 oz cans of diced tomatoes
1 tsp plus ½ Tbsp of Cathy's Basil Leaf
¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
Cooking instructions
- dissolve brown sugar in cup of warm water
- add yeast, allow yeast to activated for 10 minutes
- add olive oil and mix
- mix flour, salt, and parmesan cheese in mixing bowl
- make hole in center of flour mixture and pour yeast gradually into mixture ( use dough hook when mixing)
- add melted unsalted butter
- mix until dough is well blended (dough will be sticky, if too sticky add a little flour for handling )
- oil a large plastic bowl and place dough in bowl
- loosely cover top of bowl with plastic wrap
NOTE: Quick Rising Tip:
Place 2 cups of water in microwave, Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Place dough in microwave with cups of hot water and let rise for 20 minutes.
- remove dough from microwave
- lightly flour work surface and roll dough with rolling pin or hands to size of pizza pan
- lightly oil deep dish pizza pan to prevent dough from sticking to pan
- place dough in baking pan
- with a fork, poke small air holes into bottom of dough
Toppings Instructions
Preheat oven 350 degrees
- brown Italian Sausage and crumble when finished
- layer provolone cheese on bottom of dough
- add both bags of mozzarella cheese and spread evenly
- add Italian sausage
- layer pepperoni
- add bacon bits
- sprinkle with 1 tsp Cathy's Basil Leaf
- layer with both cans of diced tomatoes
- sprinkle parmesan cheese
- sprinkle remaining basil over pizza
- place pizza in oven and let bake for 50 minutes
